  11. Hi there, and welcome to the latest version of GMS.  This release contains
  12. the final completion of the object oriented design structure.  There weren't
  13. many new things added, but a lot of other small problems and missing
  14. features were cleaned up.  Some problem areas such as Sprites have been
  15. completely removed until they can be properly designed after V1.0.  This
  16. release was slightly rushed before I go on holiday, but everything should
  17. work fine.

  19. We are now nearing the release of the full version.  In 2 months I will
  20. release V0.95, and V1.0 will follow within 4 weeks of that.  If anyone
  21. wants to submit anything for inclusion in the official release, write to me
  22. now.

  27. It is okay to write games and demos in GMS (that's why it's available), but
  28. you are not allowed to release anything publicly until V1.0.

  41. You can now use workbench icons to run your executables.  I have made a
  42. couple of these in the GMS:Demos/ directory which you can look at.  All you
  43. need to do is make a reference to the GMS:C/StartDPK tool and your program
  44. will run correctly.

  47. Joystick module needs an owner
  48. ------------------------------
  49. The joystick object and module definitions are finalised and I am now
  50. looking for someone to take care of the source code for me.  This is the
  51. easiest module to look after, but I need someone to add support for
  52. joypads, analogue joysticks etc.  So if you have lots of different
  53. joysticks and are interested, then send me a mail.

  56. Anyone want to write an editor?
  57. -------------------------------
  58. Someone other than myself needs to write the object editor for GMS.  It
  59. will have a GUI front end and lots of boxes and windows for the user to
  60. enter data for all currently available structures.  It also needs to be
  61. able to write out data as tag lists, in a file formatted to Amiga file
  62. hunks.  Look at Data Objects in the autodoc for detailed information.

  67. Translation of autodocs
  68. -----------------------
  69. If you're interested in converting the docs to your own language, then
  70. write to me and I will give you my support.  Currently there are people
  71. working on French and Swedish translations, but I would like to have some
  72. people help them with these conversions as well.  The usual free GMS
  73. version applies.

  75. Note: To anyone that would like the French documentation, go to Aminet and
  76.       download dev/misc/gms_french.lha.  This is the FULL
  77.       documentation, with autodocs and all of the general docs.

  80. Anyone want to finish writing IceBreaker?

  82. You can find the source to IceBreaker in this archive.  What it needs is a
  83. GUI with options to turn the output of specific messages (eg
  84. AllocMemBlock()) on/off, and the ability to view structures would be nice.
  85. You do not need my permission to create new versions of IceBreaker but you
  86. *cannot charge for it*.

  89. Better Chunky 2 Planar
  90. ----------------------
  91. In this archive you will find the source to the C2P module (Asm/Chunky/
  92. 000.CPU1.s).  If anyone wants to implement a faster routine such as the one
  93. by Peter McGavin, go ahead.  Remember to send me the source if you want it
  94. working for the next GMS release.

  97. GMS Logo
  98. --------
  99. I need some logos for GMS, something small enough for people to put on
  100. their programs to show they support our system.  Maximum of 32 colours,
  101. plus an 8 or 4 colour version needed.  Any resolution is okay.  I'll use
  102. whatever logo is the best one, winner gets a permanent license for as long
  103. as I use it.
